Environmental Policy
Gordon values its reputation for actively pursuing aggressive
environmental policies. Gordon utilizes vendors who share these same values and
whose processes employ the use of recyclable components. Likewise, a strong recycling
initiative prevails in all Gordon manufacturing processes.
Extruded Aluminum is the principle substrate that is utilized
in manufacturing of our ceiling and wall system products. We annually purchase over
4 million pounds of aluminum extrusions. Our primary supplier for this material
currently uses 66% recycled
aluminum materials. This material is composed of 33% post consumer and 33% post
industrial content which meet the requirements for both LEED®1 (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Credits MR 4.1 & 4.2
– Recycled Content. Other systems components such as aluminum ceiling panels are
sourced from mills that
use approximately 50% recycled materials. Acrylic ceiling panels utilized in
our luminous systems are sourced from suppliers that use 30% recycled materials.
In addition to what we purchase, the excess drop materials
that naturally occur in the manufacturing processes are returned to our suppliers
for recycling.
Our in-house finishing facility uses only water-soluble
/ biodegradable materials yielding no VOC’s. All waste from this process is rated safe for discharge to our city storm sewer system which is ultimately delivered
to our city waste water
treatment plant with no adverse impact to the environment. No hazardous materials
are used in this or any other process within our facility.
Our Environmental Policy is embodied in our Core Values,
Beliefs, and Principles. It is the responsibility of every Gordon employee to continually
identify new and expanded opportunities to not only recycle, but to reduce the root
causes of waste.
